You know...

I really, really do feel sorry for the one person in the world who is actually allergic to Demerol, Morphine, Fentanyl, Stadol, Toradol, Motrin, Tylenol, Ultram, and Darvocet. Because the thousand people that are "allergic" to all of those drugs are the hugest douchebags in the entire universe.

  1. I hate it when people have a listed allergy to an antibiotic when their "allergic reaction" is diarrhea. It's called a side effect and it's pretty common.

  2. Funny you should say...

I was just visiting an elderly rellie today and she was telling me her husband was given morphine on his last admission and he was deemed by her to be "allergic".

Of course I laughed (secretly) and then asked about the "reaction"....

What she described was a full blown post operative psychosis of an elderly man with a history of CVA....

I had to tell her he wasn't "allergic"....hopefully that cuts out one arrival to ER that states a narcotic allergy..... :)

    Love your blog! :)

  4. I'm "allergic" to any and all narcotics... ROFLMAO. My neuro says I'm one of three patients in his practice who refuses them.

  5. Whenever people refuse narcotics, I usually want to hug them. Sadly, it's often the types who really need the meds.
